2012 NFL Rookie Premiere League

I made a trip out to the UCLA campus in Pasadena, to check out the NFL rookie premiere Flag Football game. The flag football game consisted of former NFL players and celebrities. Current NFL players like Desean Jackson stood in as referees. There were also 35 players of the current 2012 rookie class. They consisted of mostly first rounders. I had never been to a rookie premiere event in the past so I didn't know what to expect. I committed the ultimate Grapher Cardinal Sin. I assumed they would not let people take memorbillia in the event so I showed up with only one football. I arrived an hour early to find a huge line of people with tons of stuff to get signed. I guarantee I will be ready for next year. Overall me and my friends had a great time. There was music, plenty of giveaways and interactive games to play before the actual flag football game started. I am a huge Miami Dolphins fan, so lets just say I was excited to meet Ryan Tannehill. I actually got into an argument with a 49ners fan who thought Tannehill was Coby Fleener. I said don't disrespect Ryan like that (lol). And FYI Lauren Tannehill is as beautiful as they say she is.

Amir Khan

Amir Khan is a true champion. He is the definition of class. I truly believe he will bounce back from this loss and regain his belts. The fight was intense and very exciting. The build up was great and fight night didn't disappoint. I think Danny Garcia is a coward if he doesn't give Khan a rematch. Danny's father Angel Garcia is a chump. I think Garcia will be a one hit wonder. Me and my brothers met Team Khan at the Gym training for this fight. Khan's uncle, father and trainer Ruben were all nice people. By the way Amir in the gym is a beast!

Douche Bag Of The Month

JULY

                                       Pauly D                                               Mario Lopez

For the month of July there are Co-Douchebags of the Month. Both of these guys are B-List celebrities at best, but they think they are Gods. Mario Lopez hasn't done much since "Saved by the Bell". He has hosted Extra and was a grand Marshall in a parade. Big Deal! Pauly D (I refuse to call him Dj Pauly D) is a mediocre disc jockey who uses his name to get gigs. The last time I checked its been awhile since Jersey Shore has been relevant(no offense to the other cast mates).

Mario Lopez: He invites fans to the LA Grove via Twitter to watch him film Extra. But in person he is cocky arrogant prick. He ignores fans and pretends to be on his cellphone so he wouldn't have to acknowledge them. He wouldn't make eye contact with the crowd either. He walked around the Extra set like he was bigger then life. He needs a reality check, he is just the host of Extra.

Pauly D: I ran into Pauly D in LA yesterday outside of Canter's Restaurant. My mom was with me and she was a huge fan of his and Jersey Shore/Pauly D project. So we tried to speak to him and he just blew us off. He wouldn't talk to us or even look at us. The person he was with said "they are in a hurry" and "they didn't have time". Yet Pauly stood around for minutes staring at his phone. There was no crowd, no mob of people, it was just me and my mom. My mom is a strong woman who has survived Cancer and is battling a Heart Condition but this broke her spirits.

Final Thought: I get celebrities want to live normal lives and want their space. I understand
fans can get out of control and step out of line at times. But when one fans ask politely for two seconds of your time to sign an autograph or take a picture there should be no problem. Famous people always learn the hard way. They wait for reality to set in when no one cares about them anymore. When Hollywood forgets them, its the fans that keeps them alive.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

I made a trip to the Living Spaces in La Mirada where "The Captain" Kareem was making an appearance. I arrived hours in advance and there were still about 20 people in line ahead of me. By the time he showed up there were hundreds of Laker fans lined up outside of the store. They passed out wristbands, but there was not enough for all the fans in line. We were told that he would not be signing any outside items. This caused an uproar in the crowd. But the soon to be mob calmed down once they saw Kareem signings the items for the people in the front of the line. He agreed to sign memorbillia as long as he could personalize the items. This made the items less valuable on Ebay. For collectors like me the personalization was a plus. I had Kareeem sign a Spalding Basketball. Living Spaces always run a smooth signing. I was in and out in a matter of minutes. The no posed Photos is always bittersweet.

NFLPA AstroTurf Collegiate Bowl

I made a trip down to the Home Depot Center to watch the 1st ever Collegiate Bowl. When I first heard about this game I was intrigued at the fact they will be Seniors as well as Juniors featured in this game. The ironic part was since there was Juniors playing NFL scouts were not allowed at the game. This caused for many of the big name prospects to deny the invitation to showcase their skills before the NFL Draft. This aside there were many of big names at this event. The Head Coaches were Tom Flores and Dick Vermeil. A few days before there was an open practice. This were obtained autographs from Peyton Thompson(San Jose), Jacory Harris(MIA), Tony Dye (UCLA) and Ram legend Isaac Bruce. At the game I met prospects Jarrett Lee (LSU), Cameron Chism(Maryland) and the two Head Coaches. Overall this was a great event and I look forward to next year.

Canelo Alvarez- Josesito Lopez Press Conference

I made a trip to the Placita Olvera in Downtown LA to watch the Canelo-Lopez press conference. Golden Boy did an awesome job of putting this event together. The conference was "Mexican Themed". There were people passing out mini Mexican flags and luche libre masks. They even had a 30 ft tall Corona Bottle. This was a presser for the upcoming fight on September 15 called "Knockout Kingz". Oscar De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer are master minds at promoting. They came up with an incentive for the fighters. Golden Boy is offering an additional $100,000 for the best KO. They came up with the slogan "at Golden Boy we don't need judges". This may have been a shot at Top Rank for their Pacquiao-Bradley fiasco. To add more excitement Golden boy made the undercards title fights as well. Maidana-Karass and Gonzalez- Ponce De Leon will be worth watching. The fight will be a "Free per View" on Showtime. Overall this was a great day. I got to meet all the fighters and the promoters.
